'Solar Opposites': Build a wall!

By Muzi

Not the kind of wall

Solar Opposites follows a family of plant based aliens who move to America after their planet, Shlorp, is destroyed. While adapting to life on earth the replicants (child aliens) decided to build a wall which then spun off into a subplot of the show. Some say it even rivals the main plot, but we shall see...

The Wall

The Wall is a terrarium where Yumyulack and Jesse, shrink and imprison humans (in a nutshell). We weren't shown how or when the wall was built but we can safely assume Aisha gave them a create-a-wall ray. Some inhabitants deserve it and the others were unlucky enough to wear a red shirt.

Key Themes

  1. Power Dynamics: The Wall explores themes of power, control, and rebellion. The tiny humans inside the Wall form their own society, complete with hierarchies and conflicts. Typical human shii.
  2. Survival and Adaptation: The inhabitants of the Wall must adapt to their new environment, showcasing human resilience and ingenuity.
  3. Social Commentary: The Wall serves as a microcosm for societal issues, such as authoritarianism, class struggle, and the fight for freedom. It really is a mini version of our society

My Memorable Moments

  • Tim's Leadership: Tim's transformation from a regular guy to a revolutionary leader. Sorta like Walter White.
  • The Rebellion: The intense battles and power shifts during the rebellion.
  • Cherie's Rise: Cherie's journey to prominence and her escape attempts.
  • The Aftermath: The new societal order and ongoing struggles post-rebellion. Its a full on drama.

Conclusion

The Wall storyline in Solar Opposites adds significant depth to the series, I don't think Jesse is as developed as Cherie. You get to actually love the characters without any moral dilemmas. A must watch.
