Is Eren Really the Good Guy? Analyzing Attack on Titan
Eren's Journey
Eren Yeager's character arc is one of the most compelling aspects of Attack on Titan. He starts as a determined and idealistic young boy, but his journey takes him down a dark and narrow path. Eren's initial motivations are driven by a desire to protect his friends and avenge his mother's death, the typical good guy trope. However, as the series progresses, Eren's actions become increasingly questionable, to outright villainous.
I still cannot justify the Rumbling, but maybe that's because I perceive time linearly. We must not forget that Eren could see the future, past and present, this alone could drive anyone insane. Maybe thats why he adopted the belief that the ends justify the means, to save Paradis many must die.
Fan Reception
The debate over Eren's character has divided fans. Some view him as a tragic hero, while others see him as a villain. This moral ambiguity is a testament to the series' depth and complexity.
Conclusion
Eren Yeager's character in Attack on Titan challenges traditional notions of heroism and villainy, but we cannot brush off a genocide. Eren's choices, regardless of the motive, show us that he was indifferent to human life. A true villain and a must watch!!
